Overview
Established in 1992, the Galleria restaurant is now a firm favourite in the Cambridge restaurant scene. Located at the foot of Magdalene Bridge, on the banks of the River Cam it is, as it claims to be, quite simply ‘the restaurant on the river’.
Taking advantage of this unique location the Galleria is the only restaurant in Cambridge that can boast two riverside balconies, ideal for al fresco dining in the summer, or simply people watching over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee whilst the punts go by on the Cam.
The airy, Parisian café-style interior is decked with metal tracery, ferns and colourful French prints. The Galleria has a split level design with a mezzanine level providing customers with an excellent view of the Cam, whilst the lower level is ideal for intimate larger parties, it can seat 10 comfortably. Perfect for a celebratory meal the Galleria is an automatic choice for students with or without their parents in tow. The Galleria also offers a romantic atmosphere for a special date.
The menu revolves around fish, chicken, duck, steak and vegetarian options, all with some interesting sauces. There are some lighter, although well portioned pasta dishes, as well as filled ciabattas for a quick lunch snack. Also, look out for the specials both at lunch and dinner, whilst the desserts are deliciously sinful. A comprehensive wine list, enticing cocktails and excellent coffee make the Galleria a must see in Cambridge.
